    Melody is so nostalgic at this point. I remember whenever a kid would bring it for their birthday we'd ask them what chocolate they got, and when they replied with 'Melody' we would like tap them on their head and run away. 5:11 The Mystery Bar concept is genius
    I think what they're doing is targeting some particular flavours (say, for instance, strawberry) and then selling these prototypes to see whether their imitation flavour truly matches their expectations.
    If it doesn't do that, but tastes good anyways, they can label it as whatever people identified it as most and sell it as that flavour. Reward those who got it right (retroactively really).
    If it does do that AND tastes good, well that's a win-win.
    If it doesn't do that AND doesn't taste good either, they can scrap it but get saved from labelling it as something, not living up to the expectations and a lot of failed marketing.
    This just gamifies the whole process while recruiting the customers to do the heavylifting.

    I had an opportunity to visit the Cadbury factory in Birmingham in 2016. Unfortunately, we arrived shortly before they closed, so we weren't able to go on the tour. We did go thru the gift shop and loaded up on different varieties of their chocolate. It's too bad that Cadbury has to go thru Hersheys to market in the US, so most Americans don't get a real taste of Cadbury. My favorite is the mini eggs...especially the white variety. I always try to stock up around Easter.

      Cadbury's do not go through Hershey to market Cadbury Chocolate in the USA, it is made by Hershey under licence to Cadbury Chocolate of Birmingham UK and other than UK Cadbury beig sent to people in the US from the UK by mail no British Cadbury products are allowed in the US. I believe this stems from the fact that Kraft Foods purchased Cadbury under the nose of Hershey who were trying to buy out Cadbury Chocolate.

    When it comes to drinking chocolates for us 90s and 00s kid one of the best have to be Cadbury Delite which was sadly discontinued. My second favourite would definitely be Milo. But, it's crazy to think about how these companies managed to infiltrate the daily lives of middle-class households and convince parents to let their kids drink an extremely sugary drink almost twice a day.

    • @cg8397
      @cg8397 4 месяца назад

      The companies got away with sugary drinks back then because kids would burn the extra calories by playing outside. Now play time has been replaced by after-school tuition classes and screen time, so the unhealthy effects are more obvious.
